Classical Recital at New Acropolis Khar

On Saturday, April 1st 2017, members of New Acropolis (Khar Branch) had an opportunity to invite friends and family to an enchanting Classical Hindustani vocal recital by Mrs. Urvashi Gadekar, a former student of the introductory course offered by New Acropolis. The recital consisted of evening ragas, followed by an informal Q&A, exploring the melodic structure of ragas, their relationship to cycles of time, as well as the different classical schools, known as gharanas, from which they emerged.

It is said that ancient wisdom lies embedded in culture, in the form of the arts and customs. And such cultural initiatives are therefore an important component of activities at New Acropolis, as a means to investigate the human heritage, to extract principles that might be relevant to improve our lives today.
