Celebrating Autumn with rendition of Kannada language folk-song

Autumn is a time when the trees shed their leaves as part of the cycles of nature. And that is exactly what some of the members of New Acropolis, Bangalore did during the recent Autumn celebration. They shed their inhibitions about taking the stage, and in the spirit of fraternity, learnt a Kannada folk song. The result of multiple practice sessions, and generous mentorship by the talented Ashok Kumar, is a beautiful performance that we are happy to share with you all! Here is a rendition of an ode to nature.

The song Mayadantha male banthanna is a janapada-geete (folk song). It is a widely known and famous song in all villages across Karnataka. The song is about the unexpected rain (first showers after a dry spell) that is received and explains how people welcome and celebrate that moment.
