Investigating Time and Space in Visual Arts

On 20th October 2018, trained artist and well known curator Jesal Thacker presented an interactive talk titled, “Time and Space in Visual Arts” at the Main Centre of New Acropolis Cultural Organization in Colaba.

Jesal explained that while we live in Space, Life evolves through Time. The experience of creating Art therefore, involves both Time and Space. On the one hand, Art makes you ‘still’ in Time, since the experience of viewing a painting is always “in the moment”, always in the present. And yet, as you continue to observe it, it takes you ‘forward and backward’ in time, through Space.

Various examples from the Visual Arts demonstrated this intriguing relationship between Time and Space.
