What we Offer
Traveling Beyond Explorations by New Acropolis offers unique, philosophy-driven travel experiences curated and led by New Acropolis, a School for Practical Philosophy. Carefully designed itineraries balance an active exploration with well timed pauses, allowing the experiences to be truly absorbed. Our journeys to ancient civilizations and cultures are enriched by Acropolitan philosophical study, perhaps to listen to the stories whispered by the stones of time. Rooted in philosophy, symbolism, and mythology, these journeys add depth to history and culture and are created for aspiring philosophers who seek what is subtle and often missed.
Participation is by prior approval, as we go the extra mile to design our explorations for a like-minded group. We aspire for each exploration to become a collective philosophical adventure, enriched by off-the-path excursions, inspiring conversations, meaningful reflections, and moments of solitude that turn travel into lasting memories.
When we travel to offer the best of ourselves
perhaps we will find what is truly valuable.

Some Glimpses from our Explorations
Egypt (2022, 2023, 2024)
Traveling Beyond Explorations to Egypt included a cruise on the river Nile, tracing a path of a civilization which flourished with this vibrant river as its lifeline. This reflective study trip is an opportunity to grasp the deeper meaning that underlies the wonders of this ancient civilization.
The meticulously carved monuments and temples tell a unique story, set against the historical backdrop which was patiently explained by the expert Egyptologist guides who accompany the exploration. This is complemented with the symbolism and meaning of the visually remarkable sights by senior members and teachers of New Acropolis.
The travels are replete with lighter moments and spirited conversations while marveling the sunset from the open deck of the Nile cruise.
These have truly been journies of aspiring philosophers building deeper human connections, in a mysterious land which carries the untold stories of thousands of years of civilization. In Egypt, we may findnot only relics of a bygone era, but also echoes of timeless wisdom.
Nepal (2025)
Members of New Acropolis, together with senior teachers undertook a philosophical exploration in Nepal. The group included Fernand Schwarz, New Acropolis Coordinator for North West Europe and Head of the Hermes International Institute of Anthropology; Pierre Poulain, New Acropolis Coordinator for Africa, Asia and Oceania and a renowned photographer; and Yaron Barzilay, National Director and founder of New Acropolis India (North).
The journey was through historical sites in and around Kathmandu, including Boudhnath Stupa, Patan, Swayambhunath, Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple and many more. As philosophers, the exploration offered them a chance to discover the timeless values underlying temples, stupas, and sacred spaces. It was also a unique opportunity to experience the cross-cultural connections that both complement and coexist across traditions.
As an Acropolitan fraternity, the journey was filled with intimate and meaningful moments. Between the visits, travel, shared meals, anecdotes, and reflections, the experience became a truly uplifting philosophical exploration.
Ajanta and Ellora (2025)
The exploration to UNESCO world heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora in Aurangabad marked UNESCO World Philosophy Day 2025. The group had philosophers from many nations and cultures – India, Taiwan, Australia, Israel, Japan, Spain and the UK. The exploration was to participate in a shared pursuit of timeless wisdom.
Here Hindu, Buddhist and Jain traditions coexist in harmony— a beautiful example of India’s cultural heritage. While the sights and their history evoked awe, the immovable monuments were a clear evidence of an intimate interconnectedness. The monolithic Kailasa temple is magnificent, and looking deeper one can imagine a fraternity of artisans working in harmony over five generations, building what only their future generations would see fully.
This co-existence and scientific genius is clear to the curious eye, and as philosophers one can see that this example is most relevant in our times today as a key to live with depth and meaning. There is nothing like a exploration with philosophers to remind us that philosophy has always been a bridge between people, times and traditions.
New Acropolis – School of Philosophy
We are a School of Philosophy.
We promote Culture.
We practice Volunteering.
In ancient Greece, the Acropolis designated the highest part of the city. There the contact between the visible and insible was established.
It is about a symbolic place for our imagination which inspires the path towards the highest part of ourselves.
We consider that our world needs new acropolises, not made of stone but of human beings, raised in the heart of our cities to grow internally and reestablish the profound ties which can unite us with other human beings and nature around us.
