Frequently Asked Questions

No prior knowledge of philosophy is required. This course is for anyone interested in developing a philosophical approach to daily living, for someone who is looking to impact change in a meaningful way. At New Acropolis, our emphasis is on a practical philosophy.
Classes take place once a week from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, across 19 weeks, at our branches in Indiranagar and Jayanagar. The course will be conducted in-person to enable a practical and interactive experience. It also includes a full-day volunteering seminar, simple mid-term and end-of-course assessment and individual meetings with the course instructors.
The instructors are first and foremost students of philosophy, and have studied with New Acropolis for several years. Instructors undergo a one-year Instructor training program, followed by taking on a role as assistant-teacher. They make efforts to imbibe and live the wisdom they have encountered through their classes, in their own lives. All instructors at New Acropolis conduct classes on a voluntary basis.
Discounts are not offered on the course fee. New Acropolis is a completely volunteer run organisation – all classes and activities, including the maintenance of our centres and branches, are managed and run by our member-volunteers. While we are a not-for-profit organisation, we charge a basic fee to cover our costs to maintain our centres and branches.

The Mārga course is the foundational introductory course offered by New Acropolis. Upon successful completion of this course, aspirants may choose to continue with the advanced studies program as members of the organisation. Here, the engagement includes and goes beyond weekly classes, to a framework that promotes practicing values and principles discussed in the classrooms through action and volunteering. Click here for more details on the advanced studies program: https://acropolis.org.in/advanced-courses/

We strongly encourage consistency in the classes. At the same time, at times there are objective reasons that lead one to miss classes. Course participants are required to update the community leader or their instructors about any upcoming absence from class/es – the instructor and community leader will accordingly advice, based on the stage of the course and other factors, about the best course of action. In all, it is necessary to have 75% attendance to successfully complete the course and be eligible for the advanced studies.
Yes, course booklets and suggestions for additional reading are provided as part of the course. These support the reflection, recap and further research of interested course participants.
