The word Origami, from the Japanese ‘oru’ – to fold, and ‘kami’ – paper, denotes the art of folding paper to make beautiful creations. This craft promotes the ability to concentrate and to be in the present moment with all our attention and focus.

On Saturday 21st January 2023, the Pune branch of New Acropolis, India, conducted a hands-on experience of ‘Being in the Present Moment: Lessons from Origami’. After a brief introduction to Origami, a short workshop on making origami creations in a quiet, meditative manner was conducted. Just as a single sheet of paper can be transformed to something beautiful, with patience, perseverance and imagination, the speaker emphasised on transforming our own daily lives into something beautiful by concentration and by practicing these values. The session was interactive and many practical life lessons were extracted from this workshop.
