On Saturday, the 25th of May, New Acropolis Pune hosted a talk titled “Art of Communication – Building Bridges across hearts”. With a packed house of 44 enthusiastic participants, the event delved deep into the essence of communication and its profound impact on human connections.

The speaker explored the fundamental concept of communication, drawing insights from various philosophical traditions, referencing Buddha’s “Right Speech” in the eightfold path, Stoic philosophy’s notion of “Logos,” and Kabir’s concept of “Shabd,” all underscoring the significance of communication as the vehicle for expressing ideas.

Drawing inspiration from Confucius, the speaker emphasized the importance of inner harmony as a precursor to fostering connections with others. To facilitate introspection, participants engaged in a reflective activity, jotting down their heartfelt ideas on paper in response to the question, “What is in your heart?”

Transitioning to the art of listening, the pivotal role of active listening in understanding others was also discussed as participants engaged in dialogues, exploring questions such as their dreams and the values they aspire to embody. 

The significance of genuine human connection approaching conversations with sensitivity and depth was emphasised. Through small yet meaningful actions, we can cultivate philosophical living in today’s world, enriching both personal relationships and broader societal interactions .

As the evening drew to a close, attendees departed with a renewed appreciation for the power of heartfelt dialogue in bridging the distances between hearts.
