On Saturday 5th February 2022, New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted an online talk titled ‘Search for Purpose: Plato’s Allegory of the Cave’. Drawing on the Greek philosopher’s ideas from one of his most famous works, ‘The Republic’, the speaker shared the allegory and explained its symbolism. What was striking is that Plato’s ideas expressed nearly 2,500 years ago, are relevant for us today – perhaps even more so. The speaker pointed out that the present time invites us to begin the search towards liberating ourselves from the chains of conditioning, and dare to step out into the light of truth.
