Stoic 1New Acropolis Main centre hosted a talk titled Stoic Strength: Wisdom from Marcus Aurelius, on 16 November 2024  exploring the timeless wisdom of Stoic philosophy, focusing on its central tenet: the pursuit of virtue. Stoicism, founded in ancient Greece, emphasizes the importance of living with integrity, virtue, and harmony, no matter the external circumstances. At the heart of this philosophy is the belief that true strength lies in cultivating goodness from within.

The speakers took a closer look at Marcus Aurelius, the Roman Emperor and Stoic philosopher, known for his resilience and noble character.  The speakers shared few extracts from his personal journal, Meditations, which offers his reflections that not only guided him through military campaigns. These writings, full of practical wisdom, continue to inspire us today, reminding us how we can lead more meaningful and noble lives by following the Stoic path.

By drawing from the Stoic’s example, we can perhaps cultivate better inner strength, face life’s challenges with grace, and strive for a higher version of ourselves every day.
