On 11th May 2024,  New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted a talk titled “Yearning for Unity – Lessons from Tagore”,  delving into the timeless wisdom of Rabindranath Tagore, commemorating his birth anniversary on 7 May.

Shraddha Shetty, the Branch Manager of New Acropolis Pune, commenced the talk by exploring the concept of yearning, a sentiment not exclusive to Tagore but echoed by numerous philosophers and artists throughout history.

 She emphasised poetry as a medium employed by these visionaries to articulate profound ideas.

Drawing from Tagore’s vast literary repertoire, she illuminated the poet’s profound insights into the human condition. She shared how Tagores work was greatly influenced by Kabir’s wisdom and his poetry and through poignant excerpts and insightful quotes, elucidated on the essence of Tagore’s message, resonating with universal principles of humanity.

The talk also explored how yearning as described by Tagore, empowers individuals to lead inspired lives, concluding the talk with a quote reminding the audience that true progress necessitates action, stating, “You cannot cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.”

The event proved to be an enriching exploration of Tagore’s enduring relevance and the timeless lessons embedded within his works.
