New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted a talk titled  “Decoding Symbols – The Language of Life”  on 28 September 2024.  The event drew 40 participants eager to explore the significance of symbols in our lives.  The speaker discussed the four archetypes of human virtues: Truth, Beauty, Goodness, and Justice. The speaker clarified the distinction between signs and symbols, explaining how symbols embody deeper, universal truths.

Using examples from nature, she examined symbols of the Tree and the Lotus, illustrating how these are revered across various traditions, including Indian, Buddhist, and Egyptian cultures. The Lotus, in particular, serves as a powerful symbol of purity and enlightenment.

Shifting to manmade symbols, the speaker discussed the  symbolism behind the Egyptian Ankh, Pyramid, and Sphinx, emphasizing their timelessness, asserting that these symbols encapsulate essential truths about human existence that ancient civilizations aimed to convey to future generations.

The talk encouraged attendees to cultivate a philosophical perspective on life so that by understanding ourselves better, we can gain deeper insights into the world around us and recognize the truths embedded in symbols which would help add depth and meaning to our everyday experiences.
