On 29th March 2021, Culture Circle presented by New Acropolis conducted an online session on RabindranathTagore’s Nobel Prize winning work Gitanjali, by Prof. Ananda Lal.
Prof Ananda Lal completed his Phd from University of Illinois USA, where his thesis on Indian Theatre became the first English book on Tagorean drama titled ‘Rabindranath Tagore: Three Plays’. Prof. Lal sang, recited and shared his investigation of Tagore’s Gitanjali and helped the audience to understand the context of the work and the themes that Tagore worked on. The talk also proposed how we can express Tagore’s ideas in our lives today.
Using verses from Gitanjali, Prof Lal highlighted that Rabindranath Tagore propounded a practical faith, his manifesto of ethical action coming from the strong faith in a universal God while suggesting that only through our actions could we own responsibility towards ourselves and others.
