Placing a strong emphasis on culture, the Pune branch of New Acropolis, welcomed Avanti Kulkarni for a “Warli Art Workshop” on August 13, 2023. Avanti is a voice over artist, and a renowned Warli Artist in Pune who works towards promoting the art form across various platforms.
The workshop commenced with an engaging Q&A session led by the branch manager, Shraddha Shetty, with the primary goal of delving into the values and principles embedded within the tribal art form. Avanti emphasized the deep connection between Warli art and the symbols found in nature. The discussion spanned various aspects, including the notions of simplicity and happiness, inspired by this art form.
The latter part of the session transformed into an interactive, hands-on workshop, facilitated by Avanti. The participants, comprising a diverse group of children, young individuals, and elders, were introduced to the art of sketching using basic tools and fundamental shapes. In addition to gaining insight into its symbolic significance, they were guided in crafting intricate designs, including depictions of the “Tarpa” dance form.
