On October 5th, New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted a talk titled “Strengthening Hope – Lessons from the Myth of Pandora,” led by Shraddha Shetty, the branch manager. She drew examples from various mythologies of figures such as the Roman goddess ‘Spes,’ the Greek god ‘Eos,’ the Indian goddess ‘Usha,’ and the Egyptian god ‘Amon Ra,’ all symbolizing dawn and hope, illustrating how hope can guide individuals through emotional storms and confusion.
Emphasising that hope is a choice reflecting one’s attitude in challenging situations, she cited real-life examples such as Viktor Frankl and Nelson Mandela, highlighting Frankl’s assertion that the last of human freedoms is the ability to choose one’s attitude. Two versions of Pandora’s myth were shared, both illustrating that hope remains a constant even amidst adversity.
She urged attendees to actively strengthen hope in their lives, noting that it is a virtue transcending personal desires. The session concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing participants to delve deeper into the topic.
