While the predominant relationship we have with death is that of a deep fear, the wisdom of cultures across the world point to a profound value of relating to death as a key to living fully and with meaning. In the words of the Stoic philosopher and Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, “It is not death that a man should fear, but rather he should fear never beginning to live.
