New Acropolis Main Centre came alive with warmth, reflection, and cultural expression as members celebrated the 69th anniversary of New Acropolis International Organization (IONA) on 15th July. Since 1957, New Acropolis has brought together people from different cultures, languages, and countries around a shared conviction: that human beings can transform themselves and, in doing so, help transform the world.
Over these 69 years, we have learned, taught, served, built friendships, and shared countless experiences that continue to bear fruit wherever we are present.
In Mumbai more than a commemoration of an organisation, the occasion was celebrated as the birth of a movement—a School of Philosophy dedicated to to expressing timeless ideals in action. The cultural programme beautifully reflected this shared vision with a group presenting a heartfelt performance exploring how many arrive at New Acropolis with curiosity for a School of Philosophy, but choose to stay because they discover the path to more meaningful living.
The music group of New Acropolis Mumbai shared a rendition of selected shlokas from the Rig Veda, celebrating unity, harmony, and the joy of walking together on the path of wisdom. The celebration concluded with members joining together to sing Heal the World, standing arm in arm as a symbol of fraternity and shared purpose followed by a Fraternity dinner.
New Acropolis Pune celebrated the Anniversary with an evening of reflection, learning and fraternity attended by its members on 16th July.
The celebration began with the significance of building a School of Philosophy and the continuing work of fostering philosophical values in everyday life.
Members participated in interactive activities based on the archetypal values of Truth, Beauty, Goodness and Justice, including a quiz, symbolic drawings and collaborative poetry, making the celebration both educational and engaging.
Students of a group explored the work of New Acropolis as a process of both external and, more importantly, internal purification. Using the symbolism of sweeping, water, air and fire, the presentation highlighted how these elements represent different psychological tools that help individuals refine and purify themselves through the practice of philosophy.
Members watched videos highlighting activities from New Acropolis centres around the world before concluding the celebration with a group rendition of “Heal the World,” celebrating the spirit of fraternity and shared purpose.
