On Saturday, 11th January 2020, the Culture Circle of New Acropolis hosted a performance and talk on a classical Indian dance form by Gauri Sharma Tripathi titled ‘The Essence of Kathak’.
Gauri presented the history and philosophy behind the dance form and various concepts such as the master-disciple tradition (Guru Shishya Parampara), practice (Riyaaz), reflection (Chintan Manan) were elaborated during the course of the evening.
Choreographed dance pieces were performed, together with her Guru, who is also her mother, Padma Sharma and daughter Tarini, and explanations provided the audience an opportunity to understand and experience the intricacies of this dance form.
