In a bid to foster intellectual discourse and literary appreciation, the library team members of New Acropolis Pune Branch recently organized a captivating book reading session on 22 May.
The spotlight was the newly launched English translation of “Moassy, The Dog” by Jorge Ángel Livraga Rizzi (JAL), the founder of New Acropolis International Organization.
The event commenced with Pune Branch Manager Shraddha Shetty delivering a succinct introduction to the book, setting the stage for an engaging exploration. Members took turns reading select excerpts from the thought-provoking narrative prompting lively discussions and reflections, while diving into the book’s thematic elements, including freedom, equality, and sensitivity.
“Moassy, The Dog,” originally published in Spanish as ‘Moassy, el Perro’ in 1978, was translated to English and published in 2023 by the New Acropolis Cultural Organization ( Mumbai, India). Through the unconventional lens of a dog metamorphosed into a man, the book traverses the globe, offering poignant insights into various sociopolitical systems.
It unveils the author’s critique of human irrationality and duplicity while maintaining an underlying love for humanity .
The session served as a catalyst for fostering interest in the newly launched book, sparking a collective eagerness among attendees to delve deeper into its pages. This inaugural event, orchestrated by the library team, marks the beginning of a series of inspired evenings aimed at fostering a culture of literary engagement and philosophical exploration.
