On 15th December 2019, the Culture Circle, presented by New Acropolis, hosted a heritage walk titled ‘Wonder Women’ showcasing the trail blazing women of Mumbai in the 19th and early 20th centuries, who forged their own paths in the diverse fields of medicine, art, education, philosophy, politics, music, theatre, business and social service.

Conducted in the precinct of Gamdevi, the walk featured many inspiring women. Among them were the likes of H.P. Blavatsky, founder of The Theosophical Society; Dr. Kashibai Navrang, the first woman to open her own clinic in Mumbai; Sumati Morarjee, Gandhian and head of India’s largest shipping business, and Pandita Ramabai who established Arya Mahila Samaj.

The walk was conducted by Mr. Bharat Ghothoskar of Khaki tours and guided by Dr. Preeti Kelkar.
