Volunteering is the natural expression of a spirit of union with life and humanity, which manifests in the practice of values such as unselfishness, commitment and striving for the common good.

Volunteering is the fruit of the will, when it is placed at the service of others. We think there is no greater wealth than that good will. The IONA develops its volunteering programs in various fields of action, with different objectives, such as making culture more accessible, social initiatives that support development in deprived sectors of society, or the protection of Nature. All the activities that New Acropolis carries out around the world, are achieved thanks to the work of thousands of volunteers.

GLIMPSE OF VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES (Mumbai, Pune)

As an organisation that is managed and run completely by volunteers, New Acropolis offers a philosophical approach to volunteering. Our volunteering activities serve as a platform to practice these values through our actions.

Can we build a better future, without first bettering ourselves? Perhaps this is the true spirit of volunteering, to offer our change, as a humble but essential contribution to our society and world.

Empowering Real Change

Our recent times are characterised by a Post-Truth phenomenon. Not only are the boundaries between the real and unreal less clear, but they are also regarded as irrelevant.
“Empowering Real Change” is an ongoing series of events that highlight distinguished leaders from diverse fields and their initiatives towards bringing about sustainable change in our world today.

Since early 2017, New Acropolis Cultural Organization (India) has curated and executed three events in this series where distinguished change makers shared their tireless journeys to effect change toward a new and better world.

The most recent event was held on on 15th December 2018, in honour of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi to highlight his pursuit of truth and leadership through personal example. A resolution of key findings from the conference was shared internationally with our affiliate organisations comprising over 500 centres across 60 countries, inviting them to carry forward this initiative.

Volunteering is really about growing beyond thinking about the self and creating a better world. I have truly learnt the meaning of being in seva at New Acropolis.
