Human history is full of examples of leaders who have showcased demonstrated the virtue of courage, thereby inspiring future generations. Freedom fighters, social activists, philosophers and artists have left behind legacies through their own example. But are these examples of true leadership? To explore this deeper, New Acropolis (Main Center) hosted a talk titled “The Courage to Lead – Leading Ourselves” on 19 May 2018. The talk proposed how a leader is not created by a degree or title, but is a person who responds to a need as an Idealist. Using the paradigm of the seven-fold constitution of man from the Indian tradition, it was proposed that a leader is someone who strives to connect with a higher state of consciousness, hence becoming an example for others to follow.
