On 23rd January the Culture Circle, presented by New Acropolis India, hosted a conversation with Padma Shri, Sudha Murthy.

Sudhaji shared her experience as a writer and how sensitivity and keen observation can help can help us extract life’s lessons through our experiences.

Speaking of her work in the area of Philanthrophy, Sudhaji explained that we can work towards helping those in need by developing compassion for our fellow human beings as a mindset and an attitude. Each one of us can work on strengthening our identity as human beings rather than the position we achieve in life. She shared that Compassion is best taught at home and one does not need much money to help people but an ability to love our fellow human beings when they are in difficulty. Through the talk she complimented New Acropolis for its work.

Ms. Murthy is the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation which has been involved in various philanthropic initiatives for the last 24 years.  A prolific writer in English and Kannada, her books have been translated into all major Indian languages and have sold over 30 lakh copies around the country, while Ms. Murthy’s Foundation has started 60,000 libraries across Karnataka in the last 20 years. Some of her awards include the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature, the Attimabbe Award from the government of Karnataka for excellence in Kannada literature in 2011 and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in 2020.
