On 2nd March 2019, New Acropolis (Main Centre), in partnership with NGO Angel Express Foundation, organized an activity titled “Geometry in Nature”, for a group of children between the ages of 10-14 years.
The event began with a brief introduction to the theme of shapes, patterns and symmetry present in nature, which volunteers and children together replicated, using various creative means, including movement, drawing, and use of play-dough.
With the goal of prompting the children’s imagination, and cultivating the interest in observing the geometry and proportions that lie in Nature’s design, lively discussion were led on various topics such as What is symmetry? Is it for beauty alone, or does it also enhance functionality?
