On the 26th of March 2023, 30 volunteers participated in cleaning up the Mangrove habitat in the Colaba area. The clean up was in many ways an attempt to restore some balance inadvertently caused by human activity and help this ecosystem which is so important to our coastal environment.

The Mangroves are fascinating as they have adapted to survive in some of the harshest environments imaginable and yet provide so much to an entire ecosystem of birds, fish and animals that have come to depend on them. The activity organised by the Eco Volunteering team of New Acropolis main centre helped volunteers learn about nature and shared reflections on what each of us personally can do to live in harmony with our fellow inhabitants on our planet, Mother Earth.

In just 3 hours, over 1200 kg. of garbage was removed, reiterating the thoughts from Margaret Mead “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has”.
