International Mother Earth Day has been celebrated globally on 22 April every year since its adoption in 2009 by the United Nations General Assembly. Members of New Acropolis Pune Branch marked this event with a first of its kind overnight stay at “Manav Bustan”, a 11-acre centre amidst nature on the weekend of 08th and 09th April 2023.
Members spent their time working together on carefully curated activities such as planting fruit saplings, building a bamboo fencing around the plantations and working with clay to create beautiful artefacts. Amidst the various activities, in the company of the philosophical fraternity, the members also took time to share and reflect on the idea of volunteering and how each one of us can give and be more, for betterment of ourselves and for the society.
Sitting under the sky in the night time around the bonfire and singing an ode to the Mother Earth was a highlight of the fraternal moments spent together. The weekend culminated with happy and rejuvenated faces carrying memories of the land and inspiration from the reflections in nature.
