New Acropolis Bandra branch hosted a talk titled “Shakespeare and I: Exploring the Depths of Human Nature”  on  July 4 2026, exploring theatre not merely as entertainment, but as a timeless medium for education, transformation and self-discovery.

Drawing on ancient traditions from Greece, India and Egypt,  the speaker shared with participants  how theatre has long served as a medium to understanding and for connecting with deeper principles of life.

The session examined why Shakespeare’s plays continue to resonate across generations even after more than 5 decades, suggesting that their enduring relevance lies in the universal values and insights they offer. Looking at it from a  philosophical lens, the discussion focused on extracting practical lessons from the works of great thinkers and artists to help us live with greater clarity, purpose, meaning and virtue.

Through the tragedies of Othello, Macbeth and King Lear, participants explored the three defining elements of tragedy—the hero, the tragic flaw and the inner conflict. The discussion invited everyone to recognize the hero’s journey as a reflection of our own lives and to identify the personal flaws or limitations that may hinder our growth and the fulfilment of our true potential.

The talk concluded by highlighting philosophy as a path of conscious self-transformation, encouraging participants to recognise what can be changed within ourselves and to strive towards becoming better human beings.
