On Saturday, July 27th 2024 , New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted an interactive workshop titled “Art of Concentration in a Noisy World”. The session, attended by 30 participants, explored concentration as a human ability and way of life rather than just a technique. The speaker highlighted the dual nature of the mind and the importance of focusing on noble ideas over desires. Activities included reflective writing, auditory focus exercises with a bell, and drawing spirals to enhance concentration. Key takeaways included the need for clarity, active listening, patience, and reducing mental stimuli. The talk drew reference from a 17th century Tibetan painting illustrating the journey of working with the mind and the book “Concentration and Inner Awakening” – authored by Fernand Schwarz.
The speaker emphasised the importance of bringing our presence in our actions and interactions, indicating that concentration needs to be developed in order to live with more depth and fulfilment.
