In a display of “Philosophy in Action” students from the Living Philosophy course at New Acropolis main centre organized a blood donation drive on 18 April 2026 in collaboration with Masina Hospital,  an institution with whom New Acropolis has partnered on many previous occasions demonstrating longstanding, a trusted relationship.

Masina Hospital faces a constant, critical requirement for blood, platelets, and other blood products, driven by the needs of their burns unit, accident victims, and other patients. Staff members highlighted that they often spend significant time following up with friends and family of patients to secure blood; therefore, these volunteer drives serve as a vital lifeline for their medical team.

Through their efforts managed to facilitate collection of 25  units of blood were collected during the day demonstrating that beyond the numbers, fostering the spirit of volunteering is what truly matters.

The event’s success was driven by a coordinated effort over three to four weeks of hands on approach in all aspects of planning, awareness and execution to maximize awareness and encourage broader participation. The team conducted extensive outreach to over 80 local venues while also leading a creative campaign—designing visuals and leveraging platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram to engage donors.

These volunteers showed that volunteering is a true expression of will.

As philosophers, we have the capacity to address real societal needs through small yet deeply meaningful actions.
