New Acropolis Bandra Branch hosted a talk titled “Plato’s Allegory of the Cave : The Search for Truth” by Branch Manager Akanksha Sanghi on 28 July 2026. The talk invited participants to look beyond the familiar patterns of everyday life and reflect on what truly gives life meaning, purpose and joy.
Drawing inspiration from the Greek philosopher Plato’s work The Republic, the session explored the metaphor of the Allegory of the Cave—a story of people confined within a cave who mistake shadows on a wall for reality. For Plato, the journey out of the cave represents the difficult but liberating search for truth and presents a deeper understanding of reality.
The speaker encouraged participants to consider the “caves” of their own lives— fears, assumptions, distractions, habits ,illusions that limit us from reaching our true human potential.
The speaker emphasized that the search for truth is not simply an intellectual exercise, but a journey of inner transformation. Like the individual who gradually emerges from Plato’s cave into the light, each person can move beyond what limits us towards greater clarity, awareness and understanding.
