On 14th April 2013, a group of 26 enthusiastic participants gathered early on a Sunday morning at the New Acropolis Mumbai Center  to learn the essential basics of First Aid. This One day practical session conducted by the Lifesupporters Institute of Health Sciences taught the participants to administer initial care until professional medical help arrives, with due attention to common first aid errors that could actually worsen the situation at hand!

During the 8-hour session we spoke about:

·       CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and how to use the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) kit.

·       Recognizing Heart Attack, Heart Stroke, Cardiac Arrest

·       Caring for shock, head injury, internal bleeding, fainting, seizure

·       Timely care required for choking, Asthma, Diabetes

·       Treating burns, cuts, excessive bleeding, fracture

·       Importance of First Aid: How effective First Aid can not only save the life of a patient but also make a significant difference in the quality of their recovery.

The good humoured and friendly team of trainers, their effective teaching aids, participants from various walks of life and some good food helped make this event a successful one!
