New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted a talk titled “Where do we come from? Insights from Plato” on February 28, 2026, one of the five-part lecture series “Exploring Questions of Life.”
In the quest to explore philosophical ideas related to the fundamental questions of life, participants were introduced to ideas from Plato’s doctrine that spoke of the physical world perceived through the senses as constantly changing. Further that what we experience are merely the shadows of a deeper, more enduring reality.
The talk approached Plato’s Theory of Forms, speaking about the concept of eternal, unchanging forms, not easily perceived. However these forms serve as the true reality, while the material world remains an imperfect reflection of them.
Participants were encouraged to consider two possibilities: accepting the visible as the only reality, or seeking to understand the deeper essence behind it.
The talk emphasized that as aspiring philosophers we can learn that human life transcends beyond survival, rather it is journey aimed at awakening the soul.
The session concluded with an invitation to reflect with sense of adventure, whether our actions guided by goodness love and beauty can serve the collective good rather than merely personal interests.
