Over several centuries, Zen Masters have used short stories and allegories to  foster contemplation amongst their disciples. New Acropolis (Main Centre) hosted a talk on 26th January 2019, titled “Zen Lessons for 2019” to explore the wisdom that these classical stories hold, and continue to remain relevant in our times today. The speaker explained that the Zen tradition favoured the encounter of wisdom through direct experience, rather than scripture or doctrine. This gave rise to a vibrant tradition of allegories meant to reveal profound truths, for those who are searching.
