On 4th November 2023, New Acropolis Pune branch, marked World Philosophy day celebrations on the advent of Diwali, through a theatrical presentation titled ‘Victory of Light over Darkness’ at ‘The Base’, a theatre in Erandwane, Pune.

The act depicted life of a philosopher and the journey towards inner freedom and adventure. One of the many impactful dialogues from the protagonist was – “Only when there is harmony inside, can you bring harmony outside. Dare to be who you are, when you rise up, you give permission for others to do the same”.

The aspiring philosophers troupe ended the act on a higher note by singing a classic from Rumi “Come, come whoever you are – Wanderer, Worshipper, Lover of leaving”.

The theatrical act was followed by an address by Shraddha Shetty – Branch Manager of New Acropolis Pune, where she touched upon ideas of Philosophy, Theatre and Diwali. Participants took part in a few simple philosophical exercises like writing a small poem on their inspiration, reading it out later while choosing different emotions while reciting them.

Shraddha reiterated, that while World Philosophy Day is an important day to mark the importance of philosophy in New Acropolis, philosophy is a part of everyday life, a living, dynamic force to explore our own human potential that can inspire real-world change.

With over 150 people in attendance, it was an evening which explored the underlining theme of ‘Philosophy in Action’ hosted by the young members of New Acropolis Pune.
