New Acropolis (Khar Branch) organised a mangrove cleaning activity at Carter Road (Bandra) on the morning of Sunday, 24th February 2019. With ongoing support from the BMC H Ward, the team of Acropolitan Volunteers was joined by 30 student volunteers from Rizvi College (Bandra), making this one of our biggest efforts so far.

The event began with a short briefing outlining the unique characteristics and importance of the mangrove ecosystem. The volunteers were divided into three group; each focused on removing plastic, cloth and debris from specific areas. The BMC contributed access to rakes and bins, and kept a collection truck on standby in order to tow away the gathered garbage.

The event ended with introspection on how we might regain a deep connection, both with nature and ourselves.
