New Acropolis Bandra Branch hosted a talk titled “Confucius the Art of Coexistence “ an investigation into how ancient philosophies can offer practical guidance for everyday modern life on 23 May 2026.

The speaker shared how core to Confucius’ philosophy is the idea that harmonious coexistence begins with harmony within ourself and that when individuals cultivate inner balance, this harmony naturally extends to families, communities, and ultimately the wider world.

To achieve this inner harmony, Confucius advocated the path of virtue, emphasizing qualities such as justice, compassion, and responsibility.  He suggested that by developing these virtues,  we can better understand our role in society and contribute meaningfully to the collective good. The session also examined two key Confucian concepts: Ren, the ability to recognize the humanity in others, and Li, the practice of bringing meaning and intention to everyday actions through ceremony and mindfulness.

The talk concluded with a reflective exercise designed to help participants become more aware of the inner voices that can hinder co-existence—and how we can work on improving them for the better of the larger whole.
