New Acropolis main centre in Mumbai hosted a talk titled The Papyrus of Ani: And the Departure of the Soul to the Light of Day on 11th July. The event had a full house at our Ballard Estate Center.

Journeying into the wisdom of ancient Egypt the talk explored the rich symbolism showcased within the papyrus, a papyrus manuscript from 1250 BCE now in the British museum. The speaker presented how such scrolls more commonly known as the “Book of the Dead”, actually were referred to within Egypt as “the book of departure of the soul to the light of day” serving as a manual on living. That the scroll spoke of a Spiritual Journey, and not just funerary rituals.

The speaker reminded the audience of the importance of the heart as a center of transformation and spirituality that resonate through this book, emphasizing that it is through our daily choices that we can bring this spirit of elevation as we learn to act from our heart.

The event also saw the book launch of Egypt, mirror of the heavens by anthropologist and philosopher Fernandes Schwarz, which was published by new Acropolis for the first time in English
